What is Truth?
Many people today say that truth is relative: ‘I have my truth and you have your truth’. With that they believe they have settled the question, but IS the TRUTH relative? Let’s look more deeply into this question.
If I look in the mirror, the truth about my physical body is revealed to me. The truth of my physical body is certainly NOT relative. If someone else looks in the mirror with me, they will see the SAME features of my body as I do. There is only ONE truth of my physical body.
As there is a physical truth, there must also be SPIRITUAL truth. What is the SPIRITUAL TRUTH?
First of all, we know that God exists. If you have any doubt that God exists, I suggest you read my post Does God Exist?
Second of all, we know that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. If you have any doubt about this, I suggest you read my post Is Jesus Christ the Son of God?
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, said:
“For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to testify to the TRUTH. Everyone who belongs to the TRUTH listens to My voice.” (John 18:37)
Jesus Christ proved that He is the Son of the Living God by demonstrating His all-encompassing power in the many miracles He performed, which included raising people from the dead.
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent. For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man [Jesus Christ] He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:30-31)
The truth of God’s word in the Bible is established by the demonstrated power of His Son Jesus Christ, Who not only raised others from the dead but was also raised from the dead Himself by His Father in Heaven.
Therefore, we conclude that the TRUTH is the WORD OF GOD as written in the Bible and spoken by Jesus Christ, His Son. To disagree with this truth would make God out to be a liar and not honor God.
Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has Life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:10-12)

Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:19-27)
