When we think of God, we think of an entity that is high and exalted, beyond the earthly realm.
As Christians, we believe that God is a Person: the Person Jesus Christ.
Because many people view God as highly exalted, they may feel that God is unreachable to them or that they are not worthy to reach out or talk to God. As a result, they never search for a relationship with God.
While it is true that God is indeed very highly exalted far above the earth, God is also a Person which means that we can seek a relationship with Him. In fact, God greatly desires to have a relationship with us, whether we know it or not. This is the very reason He came to earth: to teach us the Truth and to enter into a relationship with each and every one of us!
In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians we read:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, is God’s expression of perfect love for us, so we can see that:
Jesus is patient.
Jesus is kind.
Jesus is not self-seeking, easily angered, boastful or proud.
In fact, Jesus Himself said:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
Jesus is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs.
Jesus delights in the Truth; in fact, Jesus IS the TRUTH.
Jesus always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Jesus believes in you: you are very special to Him! Do you believe in Him?
Jesus never fails. Jesus never fails to believe in you. Jesus never fails to help you when you ask Him. Jesus never fails to forgive you when you seek His forgiveness. What wonderful and liberating truths!
It is indeed a comforting truth to know that we can reach out to Jesus Christ, no matter how unworthy we may feel. All we need is to be honest with ourselves and with Him and acknowledge our faults and sins before Him. Once we do this He will accept us and our relationship with Him will blossom.
Read the above every time you have any doubt that Jesus loves you.
Read that over and over and you will realize what an Awe-inspiring, Wonderful and Special Friend we have in Jesus!
