In this day and age, we have an epidemic of depressed, anxious and fearful people. Why?
There are no doubt many reasons for this but I believe one simple reason is that the people who are fearful and anxious have not read the Bible or believe what it says.
How can we overcome fear, anxiety and depression?
In fact, how can we overcome anything difficult in our lives?
If we are believers in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, God tells us in the Bible that we overcome the world!
Wow, overcome the world? Yes, indeed!
Listen to what St. John tells us:
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:5)
How do we do this? Here is the answer:
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4)
And
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One Who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Jesus, our Savior, is with us and He has overcome the world!
Listen to what Jesus tells His believers:
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
If God is with us who can be against us?
And even if they are against us, can they prevail when we have the Almighty God on our side? Think about this for a moment and let it sink in!
The Almighty God Who commands the entire Universe every moment is on YOUR SIDE!
He is always protecting you! What do you have to fear?
In his letter to the Romans, St. Paul writes:
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God Who justifies. (Romans 8:31-33)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)
Jesus loves you with an everlasting love!
I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3)
When you believe you tap into this awesome love and become God’s child and God protects you!
If you truly believe God’s Word you will indeed be more than a conqueror!
God Almighty protects you! What or whom, I ask you, do you have to fear??
For the times when fear tries to enter immediately pray Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 out loud several times and watch the fear dissipate. In fact, pray Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 every day, morning and evening, and God’s angels will watch over you and protect you!
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:4-7)
My friend, read God’s word, pray God’s word every day and you will have the strength to overcome any fear… indeed to overcome the world!
